Artie Jensen

Obituary of Artie Jensen

Arthella F. Jensen, “Artie”, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021 at the age of 90. Artie was proud to have been born at the home of her parents, Albert and Louise Huff, in a little white house located on Falls Ave. East, Twin Falls, ID. She grew up in the Magic Valley and attended Burley High School. After high school, Artie married William D. Jensen, and with “Bill”, raised their four children in Twin Falls. Artie loved and valued time spent with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, family and friends—spending many a weekend camping “up North”—and later after retirement, as “snowbirds” in California and Arizona. Artie and Bill graciously hosted many family and holiday dinners—as well as sharing a lifetime of special milestones and celebrations with their Mountain Bell Company family --a very close group of phone company colleagues and their spouses. Artie worked for many years for Dr. Richard Roberts, DDS, Twin Falls, and when not working, was never without a craft project from macrame, toll and oil painting, knitting, stitch work, and ultimately to what became her passion, making and teaching others the art of stained glass. Artie was a very talented, self-taught artist and strove for beauty and perfection in whatever she created. Artie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill, and her parents, Albert Huff and Louise Nelson. She is survived by her four children, Jim (Cathy) Jensen, Nampa, ID; Shauna (Zeke) Robinson, Twin Falls, Jon Jensen, Twin Falls, Lu Ann Jensen, Boise, ID, and six grandchildren, Kevin (Jessie) Jensen, Christopher (Erica) Jensen, Jenni (Brian) Chaffin, Bruce Jensen, Constantine (Valarie) Mavromichalis and William (Kathryn) Mavromichalis, nine great grandchildren (with two new arrivals on the way), her sisters Bette Peck, Nampa, ID, and Patti Burke, Eugene, OR; and her many nieces and nephews—all of whom she dearly loved. Artie seemed to have limitless energy and a steadfast, pragmatic determination to “get things done”— she taught her children the value of family, honesty and hard work , while not missing an opportunity to share her beautiful smile, a good laugh and some good fun along the way. The Jensen Family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation for the many years of care provided to Artie by Dr. Joseph Ippolito and his staff, Dr. Richard Hammond and Gina; Barbara Olson-Nichols, the caring teams at Bridgeview Estates and Canyons Retirement Center, and the loving and respectful care provided by Hospice Visions in her final days. As Artie requested, there will be no viewing or service. The family will celebrate her life and legacy “up North” when camping weather permits, as she wished. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Hospice Visions or the Valley House.
