Wynona Arlene Brackenbury, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015, in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho on November 15, 1933 to Vell and Grace Wheeler. She was the oldest of four children: Wynona (Larry Brackenbury) of Twin Falls, Idaho, June Angus (Robert Dale) of Bancroft, Idaho, Ronald Dee Wheeler (Becky) of Quincy, Illinois, and Linda Merrill (Lynn) of Swan Valley, Idaho. Wynona graduated from Pocatello High School in 1951 and attended Idaho State University for two years majoring in business. She married Larry Brackenbury on August 28, 1954. In 1955, Larry and Wynona moved to Fort Benning, Georgia for a year as Larry was in the Big Red One First Infantry Division during the Korean War where he attended officer school. They then moved to Fort Riley, Kansas where she worked at a local bank as the President’s private secretary. Their first child, Tracy, was born there in 1957. After a year at Junction City, Kansas, they returned to Pocatello, Idaho. Wynona began to work at Idaho Bank and Trust where she continued working for several years. Their second daughter, Stacy was born in 1968. Wynona was an active member of ZONTA and several other local business groups in Pocatello. She retired from Key Bank in 1992 after a long career there as a Trust Officer. Wynona and Larry then moved to Fairfield, Idaho, in 1994 to be closer to Tracy and her family. They built a beautiful home there and she loved the sunrises and sunsets there and the view of Soldier Mountain from the deck. They lived there for over ten years and had many happy memories there with the entire family. They then moved to Twin Falls where they lived until her passing. Wynona was a hardworking and respected professional by all who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and her family meant everything to her. We will miss her warm smile, her hugs, and her laughter, but we know she is dancing in Heaven with all those who were waiting for her. Wynona is survived by her husband Larry of Twin Falls, Idaho, daughter Tracy (Michael) Gill of Fairfield, Idaho, and daughter Stacy (Steve) Sobotka of Jerome, Idaho. The four grandchildren are Stephanie (John) Slusher, Brandi (Brendan) Ash, Samantha (Brandon) Murdock, and Slade Sobotka. She had four beautiful great-grandsons: Nick and Derek Slusher, Brentley Ash, and Jaxon Murdock. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Rosenau Funeral Home. The Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
