Walter C. Ross, Jr. of Twin Falls passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Hoquiam, WA to Walter and Nellie Ross on April 25, 1926. Walt graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1944. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war he attended junior college before attending Don Martin’s School of Radio Arts in Hollywood, CA. He landed a job in Ontario, OR working at KSRV as a radio engineer and announcer during the 50’s and 60’s. While in Ontario, he met a beautiful redhead that turned out to be the love of his life. Walt and Marlene were married July 1, 1951. During their time in Ontario Walt and Marlene had three daughters. In 1969, Walt moved his family to Twin Falls after accepting an opportunity to manage a local radio station, KEEP radio. It was that year when Walt and Marlene also welcomed a son to the family. After 55 years in radio, he retired at age 82. Walt enjoyed spending time with his family, attending local sporting events and especially playing golf. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether it was a sporting event or dance recital, Walt was there to support his ‘kids’. His second love was golf. He spent over 40 years walking the fairways of Canyon Springs Golf Course. He loved playing golf with his son, grandsons and ‘the good old boys’. Walt is survived by his wife, Marlene, four children: Colleen (Mark) Jensen, Shannon Neville, Sheryl (James) Frahm and Dan (Misti) Ross; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister Marlene McDougal (Dave), and brother Joe Ross.
