Virgil Dale Wright passed away at his home on August 26, 2012. He was 91 years old. Virgil was born June 12, 1921 to Roy and Lillie Wright at the family homestead south of Curry. He attended school at Knull, Kimberly and Twin Falls. In August of 1942 he entered the Navy and spent his entire service at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He came home 6 months after the war was over. He was able to meet many people from all over the world coming in and out of Pearl Harbor. It was the beginning of many lifelong friendships. After the war he returned to a new family farm near Filer. In 1947 his father Roy passed away. He watched over his Mom and purchased a farm of his own during this time. A few bachelor years passed until he met a Buhl school teacher named Juanita Jean Ownbey. Virgil and Juanita were married August 12, 1956 at the Filer First Baptist Church. By this time Virgil had been working at the Filer Post Office a few years. He continued at the Post Office until 1984 completing 33 years of service. Virgil then became a full time farmer working with his middle son Blayne up until the time of his death. Virgil and Juanita were able to go on a lot of trips during their marriage and retirement. The biggest being a 14 day trip of all the islands of Hawaii that the whole family was able to go on. They also enjoyed Alaska, Canada and the east coast. Virgil and Juanita were married 51 years until the time of her death in 2007. Many things could be said about our father but in summary he was a devout Christian family man who did not mind hard work.
