Veva Lanora Ridgway, 83 of Jerome passed away Thursday, October 18 at Ashley Manor in Kimberly. Veva was born January 14, 1929 in Seattle, Washington the daughter of Clyde Lewis and Pearl Weaver Bevans. She had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Veva loved to fish, hunt, crochet, knit, gardening, and spending time with her family. Her father was a baker and decided to move from Seattle to the Jerome area to farm and started a dairy north of Jerome. Mom always worked on the farm. She would help herd their cows out on the desert. This was where she met the love of her life James D. Ridgway who was also herding cows. Veva helped milk the cows, transport the milk to the ditches for cooling and then loaded them on the truck to take to the creamery. James D. and Veva L. were married July 1st, 1951 in the Jerome Nazarene Church. They had 3 sons together, Johnie L., Jay D. and James D. Mom and dad supported many teams and clubs. These include softball teams at church, 4-H clubs and the Gatehook softball and volleyball teams and all the activities their sons and grandchildren were involved in. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her 2 brothers, Howard and Lonnie, and her sister Illa. She is survived by her sister Eatheal, her 3 sons, Johnie (Vivian), Jay (Darla), James (Kathy), and her grandchildren, Jamie, Vanessa, Ashlee, James D. III, Christopher, Cassidy, Danielle, Brianna, Tara and Nicole as well as 1 great grandchild, Evelynn. The family would like to give a very special thanks to the staff at Ashley Manor in Kimberly and Hospice visions. A viewing will be held at Rosenau Funeral Home from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 19th. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 20th at Rosenau Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Jerome Cemetery.
