Veneta Davies Jenkins, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on May 31, 2024, in Twin Falls, Idaho, surrounded by her loved ones. Veneta was born on June 22, 1940, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to John Lewis Davies Sr. and Emma Veneta Nielsen. She was the youngest of 9 children—6 boys and 3 girls—and was raised in Hillspring, Alberta, Canada until she was 8 years old. Her family moved to Orem, Utah and finally Provo, Utah when Veneta was 10 years old. She went on to graduate from BYU with a degree in Sociology.
During her years at BYU, Veneta was called to the Taiwan, Southern Far East Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent 2 years in Taiwan and grew to love the people that she served and the area to which she was called. In 1966, Veneta began working as a social worker in Price, Utah, where she met her future husband. On July 23, 1968, she married Ralph Dee Jenkins; they were sealed in the Manti, UT temple. While living in Price, they had a daughter, Tamara, and a son, Philip, before later moving to the towns of Wells, Nevada in 1975, Challis, Idaho in 1979, and finally Twin Falls, Idaho in 1986. Veneta and Ralph remained in Twin Falls for the rest of their lives.
Throughout her life, Veneta had a special love for music, sewing, gardening, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She was always very active, whether serving others or working on a creative project of some kind. At church she served in the Sunday School, Relief Society, and Young Women Organizations; she served in both ward and stake callings. For many years, she served in the Twin Falls temple and a service mission with her husband in her later years.
Veneta is proceeded in death by her husband Ralph Dee Jenkins of Twin Falls, Idaho; her mother, Emma Veneta Nielsen, and her father, John Lewis Davies Sr. of Provo, Utah; her brothers John Lewis Davies Jr. of Highland, Utah, Donald Leon Davies of Chester Utah, Keith Nielsen Davies of Lehi, Utah, Eldon Kay Davies of Cardston, Alberta, Canada; and her sister Mary Lynn Davies of St. George, Utah.
