Valene Cheney

Valene Rodgers Cheney passed away peacefully in her home at Woodstone Assisted Living Center on August 26th, 2017. She was 77 years old. She is survived by her two older sisters, her sons Cody (Tyra) of Kingman, AZ, Darrin (Stephanie) of Weiser, ID, her daughter Tamara (Shane) of Twin Falls, her 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and the numerous others she welcomed into her family. Her smile and laugh, her stories, her love of her family, and her dedication to those around her will be deeply missed. Born February 14, 1940 to Bert and Bernice Rodgers in Smoot, WY. She was the youngest of six kids. She graduated from Afton High school before meeting the love of her life Theron Cheney Jr. She married him June 3rd, 1959 in the Idaho Falls Temple. She followed her husband on his many adventures before settling in Southern Idaho. Valene was a dedicated Seminary Teacher in Bonners Ferry, Idaho for six years where even today her students express their love for her and her teaching. She provided her services as custodian at the LDS Bonners Ferry Chapel for many years. Her love of sewing and cooking shows kept her spirit alive when her health began to decline. Her last big adventure was to return home to walk through the Star Valley Temple. Her stories and love of her home made her eyes gleam with joy. She will be missed by all of us who have been influenced by this special woman. May the little purple pansies continue to grow with her love for us, and may her sweet spirit continue to touch the lives of those who come in contact with those who knew her. We Love you! She has now returned to her Heavenly home to join the love of her life, her two sons, her parents, and the many who have passed before her. We know that she is now smiling down on us, expressing her love and gratitude for those she leaves behind. We as a family would like to express a very special thank you to those who have dedicated their time at Woodstone to take care Valene, and a special thank you going out to those at Visions Hospice for providing love and care to her in her last days. The viewing will be this Friday at 9 am followed by the funeral services at 10 am at 1134 north college rd. west Twin Falls Idaho. Interment will follow at Twin Falls Cemetery.
