Thelma Lou Tucker

Thelma Lou Tucker, 82, of Twin Falls passed away August 24, at Brookdale Senior Living Center. Thelma was born June 6, 1934 in Twin Falls Idaho. She was the 5th of 6 children born to Harry and Faye Sharp. Thelma grew up on the Sharp family farm one mile south and one mile east of Curry crossing. She met her soon to be husband Delmar (Sparky) Tucker who lived on the adjoining farmland. Sparky and Thelma were married in 1952. They moved to Honolulu Hawaii for two years while Sparky served in the Navy. After serving in the Navy, they moved back to the states and resided in Rupert Idaho where Sparky worked in the refrigeration business. In 1958, they moved their family back to Twin Falls and began farming the Tucker family farm until 1993 when they sold the farm and moved into town to take life a little slower. Thelma not only worked on the family farm and raised three growing, active boys but also worked at Snyder Office supply from 1972-1975. In 1975, she went to work for the Twin Falls Fire Department as the department secretary. She was the first woman hired at the department. In 1986-1987 she worked for Cedar lanes bowling center. In 1986-1990 she was the manager of the Magic Bowl bowling center. In 1992, she began working at the Bowladrome until the day she retired in 2015. Thelma has been involved with the bowling community for many years. In 1992, she started the Honors Board at the Bowladrome and also started writing the “Let’s Go Bowling” article for the Times News. In 1995 she became the league’s record keeper. She was the director of NABI of Idaho (National Amatuer Bowlers Inc.), the Idaho State Seniors secretary from 1992-2007, the secretary of the Twin Falls Women’s Bowling Association board, coached the JR’s and also created and maintained the website teambowladrome.com. In 1998, she was inducted into the Twin Falls Women’s bowling association Hall of Fame. In 2000, Thelma was awarded the Idaho Bowling Council Hall of Fame. Thelma not only loved bowling but also enjoyed gardening, cooking, computers, motorcycling, quilting, knitting, crochet, Tri-chem painting and watching the hummingbirds outside their living room window. After the death of her husband Sparky, she became lifelong friends with Leslie Wheeler. The two of them have shared many adventures and have many good memories. She is preceded in death by: her parents; Harry and Faye Sharp, husband Sparky; brothers Francis, Jack and Gene. She is survived by: Dwight (Debbie) Tucker Twin Falls, Dwayne (Debra) Tucker Twin Falls, Danny (Neva) Tucker. She has six grandchildren, Stephanie (Ryan) Vermilyea, Steven Tucker, Josh (Megan) Tucker, Danielle Tucker, Casey (Bekki) Tucker, Jebadiah Tucker. She has six great grandchildren, Ashlynn (Cody), Brianna, Zade, Hallee, Ayden and Niyol. The family would like to thank the incredible staff of Brookdale Senior living center for all the loving care and friendship they have given our mom. Also a thank you to the wonderful the staff at Visions Hospice. A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 27, 2016 at 10:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park, Twin Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home.
