Steven Thor Lund, 88, of Twin Falls, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, at his home.
Steve was born on May 18, 1936, in Rupert, Idaho, to Thor E. Lund and Utahna Pearl Shaw. He grew up in the Rupert area, and as the oldest of seven children, took on many responsibilities and learned the value of hard work from an early age. When he was 10, his family moved from town to a farm, where he lived until 1954 when he graduated high school and left home to attend Ricks College.
After two winters at Ricks College, Steve served a two-and-a-half-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Norway. Upon returning, he served as sophomore class president at Ricks College before transferring to Utah State University, where he graduated as an Agronomist in 1962. While at Utah State, Steve met Suzanne Greaves. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in September 1961.
After graduation, Steve began his career with Amalgamated Sugar Co. in Rupert, later transferring to Twin Falls where he served as a field man and agronomist, overseeing the Twin Falls and Mountain Home districts until his retirement in 2000. During this time, Steve built his family home in Twin Falls, completing it in 1967, and also farmed 80 acres of land south of Buhl, which he continued until 2014.
Steve and Suzanne were blessed with four children: Scott, Lisa, Jon, and Shanan. Steve was deeply committed to his family and cherished their annual traditions, especially time spent at Redfish Lake, a tradition his children and their families continue today. Following Suzanne's passing in 2001, Steve later married Karen Perkins Parrott in the Boise Idaho Temple, embracing her children, Staci, Christian, and Matthew, as his own.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steve served in various callings including Bishop, Elders Quorum President, and Scoutmaster. He and Karen served in the Boise and Twin Falls temples for a total of 16 years, finding immense joy in temple service. In recent years, they also served as primary teachers (Oh, how he loved the children). Steve was known for his vast knowledge of the scriptures and had a strong testimony of and love for his Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Steve had many passions, including hunting with his sons and grandsons, and a great love for horses, which he began raising and training at age 16. He enjoyed traveling with friends, including a memorable trip to Israel. In retirement, one of his favorite things to do was golf with his best friend, Lee. In his final months, Steve found peace sitting in the sun, whether on his back patio or in the dining room, watching the sunlight stream through the windows.
Steve was someone who touched many lives through his kindness and service to others. He was a gentleman and a man of his word. He was always quick to offer support, give a hug, and express his unconditional love. He was known for his compassionate and selfless nature and always appreciated kind deeds done on his behalf.
Steve leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, respect, and sincerity. He is survived by his wife, Karen Lund; children Scott (Johnna) Lund, Lisa (Russell) Yergensen, Jonathan Lund, Shanan (William) Goforth, Staci (Martie) McQuain, Christian (Shannon) Parrott, and Matthew (Jennifer) Parrott; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and siblings Connie (David) Braeger, Michael Lund, and Deanna (Jim) Higens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne; parents, Thor and Utahna Lund; sister and brother-in-law, DonLina and Jay Kessinger; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Dolores Lund and Bob and Joyce Lund.
