Ruby Beatrice Powers
July 5, 1933 – June 17, 2017
Ruby (Sandberg) Beatrice Powers went to be with her heavenly Father on June 17, surrounded by her family after succumbing to a battle with cancer.
Ruby was born to Ruby and Anthony Sandberg on July 5, 1933 in Alexandria, British Columbia. Ruby was raised as a hard-working young woman, and dedicated to giving her all no matter what she did. Ruby explored different areas of the United States including Michigan, Minnesota, and her beloved Humbolt County in Eureka, California. Ruby met the husband (Edwin Ole Jacobson) of her children in 1955, and had 3 children. Ruby and Edwin divorced in 1962, and Ruby took the children Edwin, Pamela, and Susan and headed to Humbolt County in Eureka, California, staying there until she moved to Idaho in 1987.
After moving to Idaho, Ruby worked in several different areas of employment, including Sears which she retired from in 2006. Ruby's love for people followed her from employment and in to retirement. After retiring Ruby devoted her time and energy in to her church, The Faith Assembly of God and St. Edward's Catholic Church soup kitchen. Ruby was one of a kind, showing Christ in everything she did. She was known for having a smile, and a kind word, and always willing to pray for you. She loved the unlovable, and the world is a little less bright without her in it.
Ruby is survived by her husband Harold Shoup of Twin Falls, Idaho, and her children Edwin Johnson of Jerome, Idaho, Pamela Daniels of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Susan (Dave) Dudley of Anchorage, Alaska, and many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A special thank you goes to Ruby's grandson Tim, who was her guide and voice, and committed to Ruby's wellbeing to the very end. A thank you also goes to Twin Falls Hospice Care and Twin Falls Care Center and their staff for their quality of care and kindness to the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22 at Lighthouse Christian Church in Twin Falls, Idaho.
