Roy Marcellus, 72, of Twin Falls, ID, died January 17, 2011 at home in the care of his loving wife of 51 years, Leslie. Other survivors include his son, Ace Marcellus and daughter-in-law, Callae Erbaugh Marcellus; daughter, Lisa Marcellus Riley and son-in-law, Bill Riley; daughter, Dana Marcellus Hardesty and son-in-law, Lance Hardesty; and four granddaughters, Mehli Marcellus, Allaesa Marcellus, Irina Hardesty and Larissa Hardesty. An auto mechanic by profession, Roy owned and operated a local business, Roy's Repair, and previously partnered Wallace (Butch) Scellick at Butch and Roy's Service Center. Following retirement from his own business, he worked for the State of Idaho, Agriculture Department. Born in Prineville, OR on August 13, 1938 to a family involved in farming and horse racing, as a boy Roy moved frequently, traveling to most states west of the Mississippi. As a young man, for several years Roy worked heavy construction at sites such as Grand Coulee Dam and George, WA townsite. He married his wife, Leslie Kathryn Oakley, in Quincy, WA on July 18, 1959. They settled in the Magic Valley in 1963, where the proximity of rivers, desert and mountains offered many opportunities to fish, hunt, camp and ride motorcycles (nicknamed “Flatwheel,” Roy was a former member of the Magic Valley Trail Machine Association). Racing was a passion, and Roy found success both on the stock car circuit in Washington and in motorcycle races in Idaho. He also played and coached softball for fun. Recent travels included family trips to Australia, Singapore and Thailand. No public services are offered; his family plans a private memorial service in the mountains in summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice in Twin Falls. No services are planned. Cremation was under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home & Crematory, Twin Falls.
