Roy Martin Killgore, age 87 passed away at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, with his family by his side.
Roy was born in Sparks, Nevada on November 25th, 1936 the last of 6 children born to Charles Hayes Killgore and Maud Susie Hayes, both of Tennessee. One sister, Elizabeth Arnn Hoover, lives in Seattle, WA.. Roy married Diana Joyce Jones on February 2nd, 1956. They raised three children, two boys, Phillip and Stephen Killgore and one daughter Sandra Kennedy. Roy has six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Roy was an air traffic controller at LAX and Burbank airports for 32 years.Roy was first a Controller while Serving in the U.S. Air Force (1959-1960), then the FAA. Burbank Tower & Approach (TRACON), Automation Specialist, then at LAX and Supervisor of El Monte Tower. Roy was a long-time member of National Active Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) and a longtime member of ARRD National Driver Safety Committee.
Roy was an enthusiastic family history researcher of his Killgore family tree and loved the stories of The Oregon Trail.
Diana preceded Roy in death on February 6th, 2022. They had resided in Twin Falls, Idaho since 2001.
Inurnment will take place at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, 1585 E. Elm St, in Buhl, Idaho on Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with a Memorial Service following at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave. E. beginning at 11:30 a.m.
