Roy Junior Brown, 85, of Twin Falls, passed away at St. Luke's Magic Valley on September 23, 2024, with his wife, Wilma and daughter, Grace at his side. Roy was born on July 11, 1939, in Dexter, Missouri to Vador and Hattie Brown. Roy and his older brother Don, spent most of their childhood playing on Hattie's father farm.

For a short time, the family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, then to Denver, Colorado, back to Missouri, before finally settling in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1947. They lived on a trial farm while working for a seed company. The family worked hard, but always found time to go fishing in the summer and hunting in the fall.

Roy graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1957. He spent a brief time in the National Guard. Roy worked many jobs throughout his life. He was a baker at Albertson’s, rock crusher, hog farmer, potato transporter, bean and seed sorter and transporter, as well as a bird and rabbit farmer. Roy attempted to raise multiple birds, from quail to turkeys for meat and eggs. His favorite occupation, and what he will be remembered most for doing was being a Taxi Driver. Roy had a friendly nature and many people around Twin Falls knew him for this. He enjoyed being around people and socializing.

Roy also loved being outdoors. He loved going hunting for deer, geese and ducks. He also loved fishing for catfish in Murtaugh Lake. He always had a canine companion at his side. Black labs seemed to be his favorite. He adopted most of his dogs from Humane Society of Twin Falls.

Roy was a fan of Elvis Presley and John Wayne. He collected cowboy and black lab memorabilia.

Yearly vacation consisted of the annual summertime trip to Missouri with his family to see his Mom, daughter and grandkids, and brother and his family, Many memories were made on that long drive.

Roy wanted to be remembered for being the best man he could be.

Roy is survived by his wife, Wilma Micheli; sons Greg Brown of Oregon, David Brown of Washingon; and daughters Virginia Brown of Missouri and Grace (Steven) Sweatfield of Twin Falls, Idaho, and unofficial adopted son Bray Smith of Burley, Idaho. His grandchildren Lisa Torrero with fiancé Warren Austin and children Xavier, Ella, and baby girl on the way; Jeremiah Weise; Hunter and husband Dalton Young; and Arya Sweatfield. He also has more extended but loved family in Missouri. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Vador and Hattie; his brother Don, his granddaughter Arwen Sweatfield.

A memorial will be arranged next summer, when family and friends can get together to go to Roy’s favorite hunting spot to spread his ashes per his wish.
