Roger Williams passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024 at the age of 70. Born in Louisiana and raised in Washington and Idaho, Roger was deeply connected to the land he called home. He had a quiet love for books and the outdoors, finding peace in the desert, mountains, rivers, and forests that surrounded him throughout his life.
While Roger was a steady, reserved man, who lived life on his own terms without the need of grand gestures or words to express his love or care for those around him. He had a unique way of connecting with those around him. He was a good neighbor—always willing to lend a hand, offer quiet company, or share a cup of coffee over a tale or two, often embellished for good measure. His stories, even with a few extra details, were part of his charm, and those who had the pleasure of hearing them knew they were in the presence of someone who had lived deeply, if not loudly.
Roger is survived by his two sons, Jesse Williams and Thad Hasselstrom who carry forward his love for the outdoors and the lessons of hard work and self-reliance he passed on to them. His brothers Robin and Randy and sister Ronda, and five grandchildren. Roger is loved and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
