Richard Stuart McConnell, 66, entered the arms of Jesus and eternal peace Sunday morning, February 28, 2016, in Twin Falls, ID. He is survived by his faithful and loving wife, Karen (Biggs), a sister, LeAnn McConnell of Chico, CA., a sister, Christine Lant (Monty) and a niece, Annalyse Lant, of Colorado Springs, CO., Robert and Suzanne Biggs, (father and mother-in-laws), and Michael (Jackie) Biggs (brother-in-law), a niece Heather and nephew Mike. A special thanks to his childhood friend Tim Murphy, who remained at his bedside with the family to the end. We are grateful to his other many friends and family members who also expressed their love for him during his last days.
Rich began life December 13, 1949, in Chico, CA. He graduated from Chico Senior High in 1968 and immediately entered the U.S. Marine Corps, serving two tours in Viet Nam before being honorably discharged in August, 1970. Returning to Chico, Rich worked for Durham Pump before working at Biggs Electric where he met his wife, Karen. They married April 9, 1983, settling in Magalia. During his life he loved solving mechanical and electrical problems and became a licensed, self-employed electrician.
During his career he worked on hydro-electric machinery and wind turbines, traveling to distant states for these jobs.
In 2007 Rich and his wife relocated to Twin Falls, Idaho, restoring a Victorian beauty near the old center of town. They joined the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, developing a deep faith in God.
Rich will be terribly missed by those whose lives he touched, as his good humor and grace in living was a steadfast example to us all.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center for their outstanding care and support.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday March 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, 960 Eastland Drive.
