Phyllis Tews Novak

November 15, 1927 — August 19, 2013

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31:10 Phyllis Tews Novak passed away peacefully in her home Monday, August 19, 2013 after a long illness. Phyllis was born November 15, 1927 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Laura (Canfield) and Sylvester Tews. Phyllis attended school in Kimberly and Twin Falls, Idaho and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1946. In her youth, Phyllis was athletic and a hard worker. Phyllis enjoyed skiing, playing the clarinet and working on her family’s farm. After graduating, Phyllis worked at the Times News, the Paris, and Wills Motor Company. It was while working at Wills Motor that she met her future husband, Lyle D. Novak. Phyllis and Lyle married June 15, 1950 and had three children, Geralynn, Gaylene and Larren. Phyllis was a member of Bethel Temple Apostolic church for over 78 years. She was involved in the choir and church orchestra where she played the clarinet. Phyllis taught Sunday School and was involved in the bus ministry. She was faithful in her attendance and rarely missed an opportunity to join her church family in worship to the Lord. Phyllis was truly a virtuous woman and a role model to all who knew her with her gentle, kind spirit. Despite suffering from a crippling disease for many years, Phyllis never complained but instead trusted in God’s mercy and grace. Phyllis was rarely seen without a smile on her face Phyllis is survived by her husband, Lyle D. Novak, her children, Geralynn (James) Patterson, Gaylene (Dave) Munroe, and Larren (Irene) Novak; her three grandchildren Jennifer Novak, Jeremy Munroe, and Erin (Jason) Hickner; three great grandchildren Marlee, Lochlan and Huxley; a brother Gerald (Nancy) Tews and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love His appearing. II Timothy 4:7 Phyllis has run her course and is now standing tall and straight with her crown. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories at www.rosenaufuneralhome.com
