1941 Norman 2025

Norman Dean Vollmer

January 6, 1941 — April 6, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norman "Norm" Vollmer on April 6, 2025, at the age of 84, after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Norm was born on January 6, 1941, in Marmot, North Dakota, to Art and Tillie Vollmer. He met the love of his life, Colleen Fallon, and they were married on June 24, 1961, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The family lived in Twin Falls until a house fire prompted them to move to Pocatello, where they resided from 1966 to 1975. During this time, Norm was part of the nationally renowned boxing program at Idaho State University, which produced Olympic champions, National AAU champions, and future world champions. Norm took great pride in being part of such an esteemed team.

A dedicated father, loving husband, and true role model, Norm spent much of his life helping others. He devoted countless hours to coaching and refereeing the VFW boxing team in Pocatello, mentoring many young men. After moving to Boise, Norm and Colleen eventually returned to Twin Falls, where they built a home filled with love and cherished memories.

Norm loved nothing more than golfing, spending a day fishing on the lake, or enjoying a weekend at the family cabin.

He is survived by his daughters, Shauna Vollmer and Stacey (Tom) Young; his grandchildren, Josh Anderson, Travis Anderson, and Tyler Wells; and his great-granddaughter, Jolene Young. He is also survived by his siblings, Denis (Nita) Vollmer, Doug Vollmer, Dolly Tinker, and LaDeana (Joe) Brooks, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norm was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Colleen, and his parents, Art and Tillie Vollmer.

A celebration of Norm's life will be held at Rock Creek Park on Saturday, June 28th, at 1:00 P.M. For more information, call Shauna at 208-350-1963

"Rest in peace, Dad. We love you."
