Melvin {Frank) Hunter passed away suddenly Saturday, Nov 18, 2023. He was born April 23, 1937 in Menominee, Michigan to John and Nettie Hunter. He was the oldest of five siblings. He spent a lot of his young life on his Grandfather’s farm working alongside his numerous uncles and Aunt Margaret. When he was 17 yr old he moved to Bellflower, CA. In the next year he joined the Army and became a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, The Screaming Eagles, and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. where he made many jumps and was awarded a trophy for sharp shooting. It was during this time that he and Betty Terborg were married and spent the next 66 yrs. raising their 4 daughters and a grandson. There was never a dull moment.
Frank worked at Glass Arts of CA as a glazier for 17 yrs. and raised angel fish and other tropicals in his garage. When he lost that job he said he wanted to move to Idaho so off the family went to Jerome where he drove truck until he was able to start a little dairy in Jerome. One cold snowy night the barn burned down and that was the end of that so he had a grain roller built and started Hunter’s Milling. He was a hard worker but he also liked to play, baseball in CA and then golf in Idaho. He could hit that ball a country mile and played golf at Blue Lakes C.C. whenever he could. He loved to tease and kid people and you never knew when he was serious, but he made a lots of people laugh and lots of crazy memories. In 2010 he and Betty moved to Buhl where he spent his retirement loving life on the golf course down there.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents John and Nettie, his brother’s Martin and Robert, and his sister Beverly. He is survived by his wife Betty, his brother Craig Baumler, his daughters Debi {Doug} Brown, Denise {Paul} Combs, Michelle {Chad} Hargis and Beverly Hunter. His grandchildren John Fisher, Erin French, Kristin Cabaccang, Lauren Rodriguez, Christopher Friesen, David Friesen, Michael Kerley, Matthew Hargis, Kayla Nadarevic, ten Great Grand Children and his little dog, Gracie.
A celebration of life will be held at the Twin Falls Reformed Church at 11 am Friday Dec 1. While Frank loved having flowers inside and outside the house, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Mustard Seed or an organization of your choice in memory of Frank.
