Mary Froerer Hansen passed from this life on March 26, 2018, of causes incident to old age. Mary was born on May 30, 1917, in Eden, Utah, to George Froerer and Ane Oline Rosenkilde Froerer. She was the eighth of nine children. The family later moved to Riverdale, Utah, where Mary graduated from Ogden High School. She married Alva Duane Hansen on July 17, 1937, in Ogden and they made their home in Brigham City, Utah, where their first child, Lee, was born in 1940. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS temple January 3, 1945. They moved to Vale, Oregon in 1942 where they dairy farmed on the west bench. Two children, Dee and Marie, joined the family in 1948 and 1949.
Mary was active in the LDS faith, serving in various callings, including Relief Society president of the Vale Ward. Two years after her husband passed away, Mary moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, in 2008 to be near her son Dee. Mary was known for her beautiful yard, paintings, and quilts. She loved to read the scriptures and good books. She liked to fish with Al in the evenings at Bully Creek Reservoir and found joy in helping those who were in need.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight siblings, and one granddaughter, Linda Michelle Hansen.
She is survived by her three children: Lee (Judi) Saratoga Springs, Utah, Dee (Judy) Twin Falls, Idaho, Marie Hansen Groberg, Twin Falls, Idaho, nineteen grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 6 at 11:00 AM at the LDS chapel at 723 Hankins Road North, Twin Falls, Idaho. A viewing will be held before the funeral from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 10:30 am at the Valley View Cemetery in Vale, Oregon.
The family wishes to extend appreciation to the employees of Chardonnay Assisted Living and Auburn Crest Hospice for their loving care in our mother's last years. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home.
