Martha Owen Bennett died May 4, 2013, at the age of 101. Martha was born April 2, 1912, to Archie and Effa Owen in Bard, New Mexico. She grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Idaho with her family where she met Gordon Bennett. They were married November 12, 1937. At the time of Gordon’s death, they had been married 61 years. Most of these years were spent working the family farm near Buhl. Her life revolved around her family of 6 children, her faith in Christ, and her favorite pastime of fishing in Deep Creek. Martha lived the last 10 years of her life with her son, Owen, in Twin Falls, Id. Owen’s wife, Jo Ann, lovingly cared for Martha until her own untimely death. Martha loved God’s Word, lived her faith, prayed daily for her children and lived to see the benefits of living what she believed. Owen farmed in the Twin Falls area and now has a Bible based prison ministry. Laura Andrews (Virgil) Twin Falls, farmed and served the Lord through music and her sweet, gentle spirit. Herschel (Sandy) Twin Falls, drove truck and serves the Lord through music in nursing homes and other ways. Nadine Howe (Duane) has served with New Tribes Missions in Brazil for the past 50 years. Harley (Sharon) Pocatello, pastored 30 years in Idaho and Montana. Les (Shirl) Twin Falls, worked for the city water department while serving the Lord through the Nazarene Church. Along with her 6 children, she is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Edmonds and Verna Partin, both of Buhl, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-greats. We will miss her, but will forever be grateful for the example she left us. Memorial contributions may be made in Martha’s honor to the Gideon’s or Bibles for Prison Ministries. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave E, with Martha’s “Celebration of Life” to follow at 2:00 pm.
