Marilyn June Donnelley passed away peacefully January 2, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born on August 28,1937 in Spokane, WA to Bert and Millie Harden. She had one older brother Dick Harden. She grew up in Spokane Valley and graduated from West Valley High School in 1955 where she was a cheerleader and class officer.
In the fall of 1955 Marilyn attended the University of Idaho, majoring in education. She was active in Greek life, enjoyed being a cheerleader and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Marilyn met the love of her life, Bob Donnelley while he was a hasher at the DG house and they were married June 29,1957 in Spokane, WA. Bob and Marilyn had three children Pat, Mike and Katie. Their marriage of 67 years was fulfilled by raising a family, working hard and finding time to enjoy their hobbies and many travel adventures.
Fond memories from their early years together included summers spent in McCall, ID, where Bob’s summer employment took them as a Forest Service smoke jumper. Given her love of music, Marilyn also enjoyed singing in the Episcopal Church choir.
Marilyn and Bob resided in Boise, ID until 1968, then relocated to Twin Falls, ID where they were both employed by the Twin Falls School District.
In 1975 they pursued a dream of owning their own business and started Donnelley Sports. As a co-founder of the business, Marilyn’s endless hours of hard work and dedication were an integral part of their success.
Over the years Marilyn’s spare time was filled playing golf and tennis, snow skiing, and playing bridge.
She was an active member of PEO Chapter AO in Twin Falls, holding many offices and often spearheading the entertainment committee. Marilyn was always up for a quick ride to Jackpot, NV to try her luck – thus earning the nickname “Jackpot Judy.”
Marilyn and Bob enjoyed several years in the Idaho mountains at their cabin in the Wood River Valley, and later in Featherville, ID. Retirement provided time for 11 years soaking up the Arizona sunshine with many dear friends at their winter residence.
Marilyn’s adventurous spirit allowed her to attend three European Elderhostel bicycle tours with several of her close Twin Falls girlfriends. These bicycle trips were definitely highlights of her adventures, as she loved to share the experience with others.
Marilyn’s family provided much joy as she loved sharing time with her family which included three children, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Sadie, her golden doodle pup always put a smile on her face.
She is survived by her husband Bob Donnelley of 67 years, sons Pat Donnelley (Lisa) of Twin Falls, Mike Donnelley (Michelle) of Twin Falls, daughter Katie McNeley (Scot) of Twin Falls. Grandchildren: Erin (Tom) Sterett and three children. Anne (Nic) Brock and two children, Darbi (Brady) Boteilho and three children, Bo (Courtney) Donnelley and one child, Tucker Donnelley. Abby (Sean) Beckham and three children, Hannah (Ryan) McCasky and two children.
To respectfully honor Marilyn’s wishes, the family will spread her ashes on a beautiful summer day in a location that she chose.
