Lucile Simmers, 102, of Twin Falls, Idaho died Sunday November 24, 2024 at Canyons Retirement Home in Twin Falls.
Lucile was born December 5th 1921, in Hibbard, ID the daughter of William I. and Reba Ricks Widdison. She was the oldest of ten children.
Mom grew up working on a 32-acre truck garden farm and cooking for the hired hands. She attended grade school in Hibbard and graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg.
Mom worked on an Air Force Base as a propeller mechanic in Montana when she met our dad, Carl C. Simmers, who was stationed there as a propeller mechanic for the United States Air Force. On May 7, 1943 Carl and Lucile were married in Galitzin, PA.
Carl and Lucile were valiant members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 1, 1949. Mom served in many callings, one that she loved was when she and dad served in the Boise, Idaho Temple.
Lucile enjoyed baking cookies for everyone and sharing them, sewing, she sewed many quilts for her family, crocheting, knitting and especially serving and helping others, she was still serving those around her in the care facility.
Lucile is survived by one brother Lynn (Lola) Widdison. Four children Carl B. (Tracy) Simmers; Susan (Paul) Gunderson; Steve (Randi) Simmers; Judy (Kenneth) Hall; as well as 15 grandchildren and 35 ½ great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters.
