LOYD T. BAKEWELL February 22, 1942 -February 2, 2016 Loyd T. Bakewell, 73 of Twin Falls, Idaho, was called to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Loyd was born on February 22, 1942 to Thomas 0.Bakewell and Nelda Miller Bakewell in Ogden, Utah. He was the oldest of five children. Loyd grew up in Oklahoma graduated from Ponca City High School in 1960. Loyd has been a life­ long student of the Bible, psychology, writing and other things of interest. He has a diploma in Ministerial Studies from the Berean School of the Bible, having completed the requirements for a BS in psychology. Loyd served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War along with a world cruise. He received the George Washington Medal of Honor from Freedom's Foundation and was nominated for Sailor of Distinction in the Caribbean. Loyd was married to his first wife Valerie in Denver, CO. and to that union three children were born, Jonathan, Caroline and Daniel, they were later divorced. Loyd met his current wife Ruth in 1985 and they were married in Kimberly, Idaho on February 28, 1987. Loyd served fifteen years in pastoral ministry in Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma and Twin Falls, ID. He was a Letter Carrier with the Postal Service for 17 years, from which he retired in February 2004 in Jerome, ID. Loyd and his wife Ruth were Foster Parents to 42 teenage boys, and he was the proud father to three school teachers, he also had five foster boys who proudly called him Dad and he was equally proud of them. Loyd is survived by his wife Ruth, Twin Falls, sons Jonathan (Jennifer), Daniel, (Dovie), daughter Caroline of Oklahoma. His brothers Jerry (Teresa) Bakewell, Roger (Roxanne) Bakewell of Ponca City, OK sister Mayetta Fowler of Cushing, OK., sister Peggy Costello (deceased) His heart adopted sons, Randy Briggs, Joe Janes, Colby Akers, Aaron Keyes, and Martin Rodriguez, . His grandchildren, Jacob Bakewell, Nate and Jonah Bakewell, Savannah, Eden and Jaeden James all of Oklahoma. Andre', Mya, Ezekiel and Nyomi Briggs, Brittani Janes. The Aker kids and the Keyes kids called him Grandpa. Loyd will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 7th, at Rosenau Funeral Home, from 2 to 4 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday February 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, Twin Falls, ID.
