Lois June Cammack

February 19, 1935 — September 12, 2023

Twin Falls, ID

Lois June Cammack passed away in her home, September 12, 2023, of natural causes. Lois was born in Jerome, Idaho, on February 19, 1935, to Edith Willams and Robert Cox Sr. Lois was raised in Twin Falls, Idaho. Lois married Francis Cammack Jr., on June 7, 1952. They had six children, Marilyn Francis, Lucinda Marie, Cydney Alysia, Edith May, Quintin Buhl, and Vincent Jerome. After all her children were in school, Lois returned to school for herself. After getting her GED, she went on to get her Bachelor of Art degree in Education. She taught second grade at Filer Elementary. She left her teaching position, in 1978, when she accepted a position to teach for the Department of Defense, teaching dependent children overseas. She taught in Germany for several years before returning to Idaho to obtain her master’s degree at Idaho State University. After obtaining her master’s degree, Lois returned to Germany for a few more years before transferring to Japan and continuing her career. After teaching overseas for the last two decades, Lois retired from teaching, in 1999, and returned home to Filer, Idaho, after her husband passed away. She decided from there to further her education at the College of Southern Idaho, in the agricultural department, receiving a technical certificate in Horticulture. While at CSI, she taught ESL. Lois found joy in entertaining children and loved storytelling. She would often tell stories to groups at bookstores and libraires involving costumes and funny voices. She loved taking her grandchildren with her on adventures, often out of the country. She traveled the world and touched many lives. She loved skiing and taught lessons, as well. Gardening was always a relaxing hobby for her, but what she loved most was seeing her family and bragging about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister, her husband, and five grandchildren. She is survived by all six of her children, their spouses, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and many others whose lives she touched. A memorial service will be held on Monday July 29, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Filer Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a women’s shelter or a no kill animal shelter.
