On the warm and sunny morning of September 22, 2023, Leona Kay Lowder, 75, of Kimberly, Idaho passed from this life, into the next, surrounded by her loving family at home.
Kay, was one of the most kindhearted, compassionate, sweet women to walk upon this earth and her children and grandchildren are blessed to call her theirs.
Kay found joy in the simplicities of life. She enjoyed being surrounded by family, making intricate and beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren, trips to JoAnn and Costco, and showering her family in affection and acts of service. Kay’s creative ability to make loving expressions with her hands through her quilt making was inspired by her love for her family. Those who knew her best understood her heart, and her infinite goodness spoke much louder than her quiet nature would reveal.
One of her crowning achievements was her recently celebrated 50-year marriage to her sweetheart, Bob. Their ability to cherish the happy moments and endure the hardships as a unified couple set a lasting example for their abundant posterity.
Kay is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Lowder of Kimberly; her six children: Lyle (Linda) Lowder – Pullman, WA; Adam (Laura) Lowder – Canton, MI; Sariah (Bryan) DeGrange – Syracuse, UT; Ben (Emily) Lowder – Jerome, ID; Rachel (Andy) Cluff – Kimberly, ID; and Heidi (Ken) Mencl – Kimberly, ID; thirty-six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held for Kay on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 723 Hankins Rd N, Twin Falls, ID 83301 from 10:00 – 10:45 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
Kay, an avid Star Trek fan, would want each of us to remember this quote from Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again."
