Laney Morgan

January 19, 2008 — September 8, 2024

Twin Falls, ID

Laney Rae Morgan, 16, passed away September 8, 2024, due to injuries sustained in a car accident. Laney was born on January 19, 2008, to Jeff and Carrie Morgan in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Laney hit the ground running as soon as she was born, trying to keep up with her big sister, Greta. She loved her big sister and strived to be like her. Greta has fond memories of the two of them taking baths and sitting in front of the heater, as well as their weekly trips to buy puffy Cheetos at the gas station. They were so similar that many people thought they were twins. Laney loved riding her dirt bike, hunting and fishing with her dad and Papa Doug, making cookies with Mimi, and playing multiple sports, usually two or three at the same time. When Laney wasn’t on the softball field, she loved being outdoors and doing anything in the garage with her dad, like working on cars and welding. Laney attended Valley Schools from Kindergarten to 8th grade and was a Junior at Twin Falls High School at the time of the accident. While attending Twin Falls High School, she participated in volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and softball. Wrestling quickly became one of her favorite sports. Laney’s sports journey would not have been as successful without all the guidance and support from many great coaches.

Laney was known for her dedication on and off the field, always pushing herself and her teammates to compete and be their best. Laney was an old soul with a contagious spirit, a sense of humor that didn’t go unnoticed, and a knack for talking to anyone…especially umpires. Her passion for softball was evident in every game she played, and she inspired many with her determination and work ethic, and her competitive spirit was unparalleled.

Laney is survived by her parents, sister, grandparents Larry and Brenda Rice, Cal and Susie Low, Doug Morgan, Victoria Smith and Liz Talmage. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and their families. Laney was very close to, and very loved by, all of her cousins. She was preceded in death by all her great-grandparents and her dog, Daisy.

A memorial service to celebrate Laney’s life will be held on September 15, 2024, at the Twin Falls High School Softball Fields at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the “Laney Morgan Memorial Fund” at ICCU. Laney left a lasting impression on many people and will be deeply missed.
