Keith Robinson, long time resident of Twin Falls, Idaho, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the age of 96. Keith was born on February 21, 1928, in American Falls, Idaho, the son of Archie and Evelyn Peck Robinson. He spent his early years in Rockland, and enlisted in the US Navy in 1945. After boot camp, he was assigned to the USS Rockingham, and in July 1946, he was part of Operation Crossroads which involved nuclear weapons testing and evaluation in the Marshall Islands. After his enlistment, he returned to Pocatello and worked at the Naval Ordinance Plant.
In 1952, he became an officer with the Pocatello Police Department where he worked for several years. He was also very involved with the Pocatello Junior Chamber of Commerce and as its president, worked on several civic projects, including the approval and construction of Highland High School. In 1972, he earned his real estate license and became a broker and owner of Keith Robinson Realty for the remainder of his working lifetime.
After retirement, he and his wife Colleen enjoyed traveling, and decided to live part of the year in San Carlos, Mexico, and later, in Yuma, Arizona. Both of them also volunteered for disaster relief training and supported relief operations for many years.
He was named Lloyd Keith Robinson when he was born, but legally changed his name to simply Keith Robinson in 2006. From his family heritage, his first ancestors in America lived in the New England colonies in the early 1600s. He was a proud member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, where he had six ancestors who were passengers on the Mayflower. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, where he had more than 20 ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. His grandparents were descendants of Mormon pioneers who traveled to Utah and then Idaho.
Keith is preceded in death by both of his parents, a sister Ruby May Robinson; and three brothers, Archie Wayne Robinson, Willis Ray "Bill" Robinson, and Alden Dean Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Colleen Mann Robinson; two sons, Galen Chatterton of Riverton, Utah, and Col (ret) Garald K. Robinson of Tampa, Florida; one daughter, Sheila Robinson Brooks of Boise, Idaho; and three of Colleen's daughters, Shelly Brown Hummel of Fircrest, Washington, JoDee Brown Clark of Boise, Idaho, and Sharon Brown Finco of Twin Falls. Between Keith and Colleen, they share 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
