On June 14, 2024 mom passed away at her home. It's amazing how one person can be so important to so many people. Our family was lucky to have her, now she is flying with the Angel's in God's kingdom. Karen was born to Bobby Eugene Martin and Mary Elizabeth Rogers on March 10, 1954 in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was the second of six kids. Karen graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1972. Karen raised her two daughter's, Stephanie and Leslie with the help of family until she met Michael Skeen. They were married on August 16, 1985 and she gained a daughter, Crystal and son, Jeff. Karen enjoyed camping, hunting and family outings, and loved traveling with Mike while he drove truck. They resided in Kimberly, Idaho until Mike's sudden passing September 9, 2001. Karen never remarried but enjoyed spending time with her friend Juan Silva.
If you were lucky enough to watch Karen dance you'd know she was a natural. She moved around the dance floor like she owned it and loved every minute of it. It didn't matter who she danced with, she glided across the floor with grace.
Karen worked at Pacific Fruit and Magic Valley Periodicals in her younger years. Then when Shopko came to Twin she worked from the day the store opened until it's closing 33 years later. Karen then decided to start her well deserved retirement.
Karen's grandkids were her pride and joy. She was always ready for whatever adventure they had for her. They all adored their grandma very much. In September 2021 Karen's life was complete when she got her little princess, her great granddaughter Katalina. Karen and Katalina spent most days together and formed a special bond that will never be forgotten. Mom always told us daughter's how proud she was of our accomplishments. She was our biggest fan. She was there whenever we needed anything, a shoulder to cry on, a jackpot trip, a day of shopping, a quick coffee run, taco Tuesday, or even just to sit on her couch and visit. We will miss her dearly.
Karen enjoyed hanging out with her sister's, laughing, having lunch, and taking trips, and just enjoying each other's company.
Karen had a contagious smile and made friends with whomever was put in her path. She was constantly doing and thinking of others. She was the most selfless person you would ever meet.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Martin, mother, Mary (Liz) Hoxie, Step-father, Edward (Slim) Hoxie
Karen is survived by her two daughter's, Stephanie Trammell (Shawn), Leslie (Jeff) Day, brothers, Steve (Teri) Martin, Linc Hoxie, Sister's, Debbie Broner (Fred), Cindy Martin, Tracy Vance, grandkids, Caitlyn Trammell (Marco), Hayden Eichholz, Jordyn Turner (Oden), Gavin Turner, Parker, Aubrey (Rio) Jensen, Brandon (Lexi) Day, great-grandkids, Ali, Katalina, Oakley, Riplan, step-kids, Crystal (Jeff) Hays, Jeff Skeen, and six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
