Julie Ann Olson-Wright, 55 passed away on October 13, 2016 at the Twin Falls Care Center. Julie was born on April 10, 1961 in Ely, Nevada. She was the 3rd child of 7 in the Olson family. She is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Ruby Olson, brother, Ronnie and sister, Jackie. At the age of 9, Julie's proudest moment from her childhood was participating in the first Special Olympics held at the University of Pocatello in June of 1970. She won the gold medal in the softball throw, and a bronze medal in the standing broad jump. She graduated from Castleford High School in 1980. Julie learned to crochet from her grandmothers; Ella Olson-Cramer and Gladys Bean. She enjoyed making pot holders, scarf, afghans and giving them to family and friends. She also spent her time working on large jigsaw puzzles and word searches. Julie loved writing poetry. Julie married Doug Wright on July 5, 2002 and they have since then resided in Twin Falls. Julie is survived by her husband Doug; sisters Shelia Calton of Boise, Anita Elwood of Twin Falls; brothers Merlyne Olson of Twin Falls, Scott Olson of Buhl and her only daughter from a previous marriage Sara Bateman of Jerome; and 5 beautiful grandchildren along with several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be hld on Saturday October 22, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Rock Creek Community Church, 262 5th Ave E Twin Falls. The family would like to express an extended thank you to Encompass Home Health and Hospice and Twin Falls Care Center for caring for Julie in her final weeks. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Special Olympics Twin Falls Tators Team.
