Josephine "Jo" Ellen Montelli

Josephine Ellen (Bruni) Montelli died peacefully in her sleep on January 14, 2024.  She was born June 29, 1923, in St. Helena, California.  She was 100 years old.  Josephine who preferred to be called “Jo” had seven sisters and two brothers.  Her parents (Sabina and Ettore Bruni) were born in Italy and arrived in Ellis Island in 1896.  They moved to the Napa Valley and raised their children on a ten-acre ranch where they grew grapes, had farm animals, and a garden.  The family started a restaurant in St. Helena where Jo and her sisters would work.  They were a close-knit family and always enjoyed many celebrations.  At a very young age, Jo learned to play the piano.  She loved playing the piano at all the family gatherings.  Jo was a wonderful cook, and she was happiest when cooking for her family and friends. 

Jo is survived by her four children, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and her brother.
