Joseph Osburn Salisbury was born March 27, 1950 in Twin Falls, Idaho and passed away early June 19, 2023 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospital from complications related to multiple myeloma cancer.
The oldest of five children, Os, as many knew him, attended O’Leary Jr. High and Twin Falls High School before graduating from University of Utah with a degree in English Literature. In 1972, Os married Jacque Ann Nelson in Albuquerque New Mexico and the couple had two children, Holden, and Nelson in Salt Lake City before moving to Twin Falls and giving birth to a third son, Morgan, in 1978. In Twin Falls, Os began to work at Magic Carpet Travels, a travel agency founded by his father. Os bought and then sold his father’s company and continued to work as a private travel agent until his passing.
Osburn was predeceased by his father, Claude Joseph Salisbury, his mother, Mary Whiteley Salisbury, and his brother, James Earl. He is survived by his wife, Jacque Ann Salisbury, his three sons, Holden Osburn (Tamara), Nelson Whiteley (Sok Nin), and Morgan James (Gisela), his five grandchildren, Raetana, Hayes, Kayla, Preston, and Sajama, and his three siblings, Grant Whiteley, Mary Ann Watanabe, and Julie Salisbury Atkin.
Osburn is remembered for his kind nature, relaxed style, and his great taste in music.
