José Manuel Sánchez Ramírez, lovingly known as Mel, passed away on January 22, 2025, in Twin Falls, Idaho, at the age of 51. Born on May 8, 1973, in Pocatello, Idaho, he was a dreamer who embraced life’s joys and challenges with a heart full of imagination and kindness.
Mel was the proud father of Alexandra, who brought immense light to his life. He is also survived by his beloved mother, Eunice Ramírez de Sánchez, and his sisters: Priscila Rowley (husband Codey Rowley), Consuelo Tysor (husband Ed Tysor), Balin Giesbrecht (husband Donald Giesbrecht and their children Ademaro and Taliano), and Bibi García (husband Ruben García).
Mel attended Highland High School and completed a year at Idaho State University. He built a meaningful career in the autobody industry, working in every aspect of the field—from technician to estimator and adjuster. His skill and dedication earned him respect among his colleagues and community.
In his free time, Mel loved building intricate LEGO creations and diving into the worlds of science fiction through books. Recently, he found joy riding his scooter around town, embracing a sense of freedom and adventure. Above all, Mel was a dreamer in the best sense—someone who saw possibilities where others might not and lived with a creative and open heart.
A service to honor Mel’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 1:00PM at 3817 Hawthorne Road, Pocatello, ID. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to https://gofund.me/a9a231ec, or simply take a moment to build something with someone you love in his memory.
Mel will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his adventurous spirit, love of stories, and devotion to his family.
