John Lee Johnson

John Lee Johnson was born December 23, 1946 in Pasadena, California to Louis Orlando Johnson and Barbra Ione Gourley. He grew up in Southern California and graduated from Warren High School in 1963. He married his high school sweetheart, Judy Diane Parker six years later, April 12, 1969. While attending Cerritos Community College he took the advice of a family friend who recommended the electronics field and the US Army. John and Judy were stationed in Germany where their first child, Sheila Marie was born. The family of three returned to Downey, California. While finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Long Beach State, Kevin Doyle was added to the family. John prepared taxes in the evening as an independent agent and in the day he worked for AT & T. He was able to transfer with his position as a Communications Technician in 1983 to Sparks, Nevada. He loved working downtown in Reno and a favorite lunch hour was to walk the Truckee River and eat an “Awful-Awful Hamburger.” Grandkids began to arrive in 1991 and followed nearly every year until 1999 when there were seven total. John retired from Nevada Bell in 1997. He continued to keep busy preparing taxes with H&R Block for many years. John and Judy moved to Fernley, Nevada in 1998. They uprooted for the last time in June 2007 to Twin Falls, Idaho. John is survived by Judy, his sweetheart of more than 50 years. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary April 12, 2016. He is also survived by his children’s families: Sheila Marie and Michael Alan McGuinness of Corvallis, Montana and their four children, Aaron Michael, Leann Marie, Jonathan Doyle and Ian Matthew Kevin Doyle and Hilarey Ann Johnson of Meridian, Idaho and their three children, Doyle Thomas, Naomi Diane and Ethan Lee.
