On Tuesday, March 21st Jody passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side.
Jody was born on November 29th, 1956 in Boise Idaho to Irene Rhoades, the youngest of seven. Growing up, she never wanted a man in her life, just a cat. Instead, she had daughters. Karen in 1972, and Katie ten years later. She definitely had a cat or two along the way as well. Sometime in the early 90’s, Jody moved to Twin Falls and made it her home. In 1996 she met the love of her life Mark Nukaya, and probably told him that she loved him 925,000 times over the course of their 25 years together. (Thats roughly 100 times a day, or 4 times an hour.) Mark brought Heidi and Jake into her life and from then on, she had 4 kids and had graduated from an aspiring cat lady, to a crazy dog lady. She and Mark got a lab puppy named Shakina, who grew up to be a Pit Bull, and needed a Pit Bull brother, Thug. Together they built a life perfect for them.
Jody was a phenomenal waitress, making so much money in tips that it was not uncommon for her to have her apron overflowing, and a trail of one dollar bills behind her. She saved every single one dollar bill, ironed them out and used them to make a down payment on her house. She used to say that anyone could pour a cup of coffee, but it’s HOW you pour it that makes that money. She made little families everywhere she went, who stayed her families when she moved on. She spent many years at Golden Corral in Twin Falls. Most recently, she handed out Costco samples. A job she loved, not only because of all the people she got to see, but because she didn’t have to style her hair before work.
She always had a hug for everyone she knew, a smoke if you needed it, an “I love you” at the end of every sentence, (literally) and a middle finger for those of us closest to her. Jody was bigger than the whole world, a friend of the friendless, and the sky is a little brighter with her up there looking down on us.
She is survived by her ‘dogter’ Sugar, her kids Karen, Katie (Zach), Heidi (Noah), Jake (Candy), her grandkids, Andrean, LaDawn, Alex (Dakota), Sofia, Ella, Kenji, Kevilynne, Kaleb, Addison, Meadow and Colton, and her two great grand babies Elias and Mackay. Her favorite niece, Debbie, her nephews Charlie, Nick (Kyanne) and Alex, along with all of those little families she’s created throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her mother Irene, her brothers, Bill, Joe, Donald, Jack, and Darryl, her sister Judy, her crazy dogs, Shakina and Thug, and of course, her love, Mark.
