Jerry J. Josephsen

September 28, 1950 — March 2, 2016

Jerry Josephsen, 1950 -2016 How does one capture in words the life of a man. A man who made the world a place of laughter, love and adventure for me and for anyone who wanted to join him on his journey. There was never a mountain that didn't call out to him and invite him to climb its trails either by horse (his first choice), our ATV or his mighty legs that would carry him for miles in the mountains that he loved. My husband, the joy of my heart, Jerry Jay Josephsen was one tough cowboy up until the end. He returned to his eternal home on March 2, 2016, leaving behind to travel on without his steady pace, his wife, children, brothers and sisters, grandkids, nieces, nephews and all of his friends. Jerry was born in Greenfield, Iowa on Sept. 28, 1950, the 6th child of Harvey and Anna Josephsen. The family moved from Iowa to the San Fernando Valley in California in 1956 where Jerry completed his public eduction. He joined the Army National Guard serving until his separation in 1975. Jerry began working at a very young age forming his strong work ethic that was just a part of who he was. During the time he was in California Jerry started his family, with son Jon and daughter Marnie. He later divorced. Jerry often shared how his life changed in 1988, when he looked across the room and saw a woman who stole his heart. Jerry married Leigh on July 8th 1989, beginning their 27 year honeymoon. Leigh's son Justin became a part of Jerry's family. Jerry and Leigh loaded up the u-haul truck and moved to Idaho in 1990, living in Kimberly until building their dream home in Buhl in 2005. Jerry worked at Rangen's from 1990 until 2004. At the age of 48, Jerry went back to school and completed all requirements to obtain his Journeyman Electrical License. In April 2004, Jerry made the move to Jerome Cheese where he continued as an electrician until his medical retirement in June 2014. For 18 years, Jerry enjoyed serving his community as a Twin Falls Reserve Sheriff. We are all going to miss our wonderful Jerry, pulling his pranks and making us smile. But his desire for us would be to laugh often, to be kind and remember that every day is a gift. Jerry's legacy includes his one and only, Leigh Josephsen, his children, Jon Josephsen (Sarah), Marnie Bonesteel (Erik), Justin Kock(Liz), grandchildren, Sean, Finn and Greyson, his brothers, Randy Josephsen (Kathy), Harvey Josephsen (Lois), Rick Josephsen (Gloria) and sisters Judy McAdams, Becky Austin (Doug), brother-in-law Steve Hayward and sister-in-law Nancy Strand (Doug). 25 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews. Jerry's celebration of life will be held March 19th at 1:00 PM at the Buhl Calvary Chapel with Pastor Jackie Roberts officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Jerry would like memorials gifts payable to Huntsman Cancer Foundation, Brain Cancer Research. Please send all gifts to Rosenau Funeral Home 2826 Addison Ave., Twin Falls, Idaho 83301. "How lucky am I to have had something that makes saying good-bye so hard"
