Jerald L Brown

October 15, 1956 — August 25, 2017

Jerry L. Brown peacefully passed away on Aug. 25, 2017 from cancer at home with family at his side. Jerry was born on Oct. 15, 1956 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Edward Brown and Donna Lee (Davis) Brown. He was the fourth son of four boys born into the Brown family, followed by two sisters. He was raised with his family on a farm that was originally homesteaded by his Great Grandfather (Abe Davis) west of Filer. Growing up on a farm with 4 brothers less than 6 years of age apart was interesting and scary at many times. Fortunately all survived and moved on to lead successful lives. Growing up Jerry was always a lover of dogs, from Ginger to Patsy Ann who was at his side when he went to be with his Lord. He always had a dog in his life. He attended schools in Filer, and graduated from Filer High School in 1974. He later attained an AS degree from C.S.I. in IT. Jerry always had a love of the land and especially of raising potatoes. After graduation he worked with different farmers, and later farmed in partnership with his brother Steve, and later with a close friend Walt Foster. After a neck injury, he began working with Red Iron Construction, which was his favorite job, and then later worked for CSI as a computer specialist. The remainder of his life he cared for his autistic son at home. Jerry also restored cars, and was an avid and proficient golfer. He soon became a devout believer in Jesus Christ, dedicating his life to him and working countless hours with Lighthouse Church. On February, 4, 1983, Jerry married his love, and future life partner, Becky Urie. Together they had two sons, Daniel, and Matt. When Dan was born Jerry was the happiest father in the world, and then again when Matt joined them thirteen months later. Jerry dedicated his life to his family. When Matt was at an early age it became apparent, he was autistic, Jerry never faltered, but spent countless hours providing Matt's needs. On March 24, 2012, Jerry was notified with the worst information a parent could receive. Daniel had been killed in Afghanistan while serving his country, three weeks away from his leave to come home and see his twin daughters that were born after his tour began. Jerry was crushed, but didn't let that stop him. He began a campaign to construct a statue of Dan in Jerome, where Dan grew up to honor him and remind all people of the sacrifices of all veterans. Jerry accomplished this amazing task through countless hours of hard work and dedication. The statue now stands at Gail Forsyth Park in Jerome. Jerry is survived by his wife, Becky, his son Matt, granddaughters Mattie and Marlee, daughter-in-law Jordan Brown, brothers Mike Brown (Paula) of Jerome, Steve Brown(Pam) of Twin Falls, Scott Brown (Lynn) of Twin Falls and Sisters Ellen Bacot, of Salt Lake, and Teresa Moody (Randy) Kimberly. In laws Lee and Barbara Urie of Twin Falls. He was preceded in death by his Parents, His son Daniel. Many thanks to St. Luke's Magic Valley Hospice. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, August 30 at Rosenau Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 31st at 4:00 PM at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship.
