Janice L Stone

Janice Lillian Stone, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away peacefully June 14, 2024 at the age of 87 from complications of Alzheimer’s. Janice was born in Clarksville, Iowa to parents Gertrude and Elmer Poppe. She grew up in Iowa with two brothers, Lester Leroy, Carl Merlyn and one sister, LaVone Ida. All of her siblings have passed.

They moved to Riverside, California where she met the love of her life, Bobby G. Stone. They were married December 26, 1953 and have celebrated 70 anniversaries. They have four children, Joe (Winter), Geri their daughter, Jack (Karin), and Wilson (Patty). They had 5 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and a couple great-great-grandchildren.

She was a stay-at-home wife and mother. Her home was wonderful to grow up in. She loved crafts, gardening and camping. She rode on the back of Bobby’s motorcycle and went on many motorcycle tours with the Road Riders group in Southern California. She loved the strawberries that ripened just for her June birthdays.

The family moved to Idaho in 1972 where she became a house parent for children in need of care at the Idaho Youth Ranch in Rupert and then continued at Harbor House in Twin Falls along with her husband. After her own children were raised she took on full-time employment with South Central Community Action Partnership and ended her career as an Ombudsman at the College of Southern Idaho, Office on Aging.

When Janice took her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to visit long-time friends and family across the United States. The home they bought in Twin Falls was very old and needed constant remodeling. She was an excellent painter. She was a photo scrapbook maker even before it was popular. She would journal and write stories about vacations or events happening in the family. They were filled with her humor and love.

There are many sweet memories of her and she was a happy person who loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She will be forever missed.

The family will have a Celebration of Life Saturday, July 13, 2024. It will be held at her church, Community Christian Church, 303 Grandview, Twin Falls, Idaho from 4-6 p.m. A meal with ham is being provided along with desserts. Please come share a story of her along with her family.
