Ira Melvin Pitts, known affectionally as Mel, passed away on July 23, 2024, in his hometown of Twin Falls Idaho. Born July 3,1937 in Buhl, ID. He was the son of I.W. and Cora Pitts.

In 1956 he married his beloved wife, Reta Stark and together they raised two children Jan Capps (Bob) and Nomie Dreier (Jeff). Melvin was a devoted husband and father, and his family was the cornerstone of his life.

Melvin leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children, his two grandsons that he was so proud of Lance (Lonnie) Paul and Tucker (Jennifer) Johnson and his six great grandchildren that he adored: Samantha, Taytum, Tenley, Paxton, Payson and Shelby.

Mel instilled values of honor and hard work in his loved ones. His fantastic work ethic was not just a personal hallmark but a legacy he passed on to his daughters, grandsons and great grandchildren. His teachings and example shaped the lives of those around him, leaving an undeniable mark on their hearts and minds.

In addition to his mechanical hobbies, Mel enjoyed traveling across the country in an RV with his family. One of his favorite destinations was Yellowstone National Park, a place he frequented often with his loved ones, especially with his beloved wife. These adventures were a testament to his love for nature and family, creating lasting memories that his family will treasure.

He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Melvin’s memory will live on in the lessons he imparted, the love he shared, and the adventures he embarked on with his family and friends.
