Ilda Marie Stigile
April 24, 1921 – May 29, 2016
Ilda Gaskins Stigile was born April 24, 1921, and was one of seven children. She was born at home on a farm, to Dolphus and Pearl Gaskins of Ainsworth, Nebraska. Ilda was ninety five years old at the time of her death at Bridgeview Estates.
Ilda grew up and attended school in the Ainsworth, Nebraska area and graduated from high school in 1938. After Normal Training in high school and passing the required tests she received a teaching certificate. Ilda began teaching school at age 17 and taught for four years.
Edwin W. Stigile (Bill) and Ilda were married in 1942. They resided in Sioux City, Iowa, where Bill was stationed in the Army Air Corp. After the war ended he was discharged from the Army and they moved to Ainsworth where they farmed briefly before moving to Idaho in 1949. They had drawn a homestead in the Hunt Project and chose a tract of land north and east of Greenwood and Hazelton, Idaho. Milk cows, beef cows and feed crops were raised on the farm.
Sewing, raising African Violets, 4-H and Extension Program work were of special interest to Ilda. She often exhibited canned vegetables and sewing work at the county fair in Jerome. Ilda was honored as a 50 year member of the local Greenwood, Hazelton area Friendship Club and she always looked forward to club day. Ilda was a long time member of the Valley Presbyterian Church, and the United Presbyterian Women at Hazelton and held various offices in those organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, her husband Bill Stigile, and a daughter, Jeannie. She is survived by her brother Harley Gaskins, son Terry Stigile (Sally), daughter Linda Lords (Kevin), and son Kelly Stigile (Valerie). Grandchildren are Kevin Stigile (Heidi), Shelley Montgomery (Donald), Suzy Lords, Gary Lords, Lee Stigile, Justin DeVinaspre (Molly), Tyler DeVinaspre, Christy DeVinaspre, Austin Stigile (Lindsy), Alanna Shuldberg (David). The great grandchildren are Caleb, Jesse and Elias Stigile, Scott and Jason Montgomery, Blake, Aaron and Adaela Stigile, Xavier DeVinaspre, Ava DeVinaspre, Baylee, Brooklyn and Ryker Shuldberg, and Charlotte Stigile.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Evangelical Valley Presbyterian Church, Hazelton, Idaho, at 11:00 am with Pastor Rj Hansen officiating. Inurnment is to follow at the Hazelton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Silver and Gold Senior Citizen Center in Eden, Idaho. Arrangements are under the care of Rosenau Funeral Home, Twin Falls, Idaho.
