Gladys Ruhter died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Cedar Draw Assisted Living, Filer, Idaho. Gladys Henrietta Persigehl was born on September 5, 1931 to Emil and Amalia Persigehl at Filer, Idaho. She was baptized at Clover Trinity Lutheran Church on September 20, 1931 and confirmed her faith on March 25, 1945. She attended Clover Lutheran School and graduated from Filer High School in 1949. She married Gerald Gene Ruhter on June 18, 1950 at Clover Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed on Pole Line road until moving “to town” in 2002. Gladys enjoyed working in her garden, baking, sewing and reading. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in and supportive of their various organizations including LWML. Gladys is survived by her husband, Gene, and her children: Linda Ruhter and Bill Leedom, Richard, David and Phillip Ruhter, all of Twin Falls; her grandchildren: Brandi and Bryce Gibson, Derrick and Teresa O’Dell, Kori and Callie Ruhter, Erin Craig, Alyssa and Greg Virts; her great grandchildren, Bryttni and Braeghan Gibson, Raymond and Tyler O’Dell, Jagger and Jordie Ruhter, Damien and Persepone Virts; and her great great granddaughter; Saoirse Neel; her sister; Joan and Don Stein of Tempe, AZ; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Betty Thaete and Vera Ladendorf and her great granddaughter Bailee Rae Gibson. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 17 at 10:30am at Immanuel Lutheran church in Twin Falls. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park at 9:30am.
