Georgia Heiner Stenberg Knight, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, after a struggle with cancer. Georgia was born on May 11, 1938, to Milo D Heiner and Lucille Crompton. Georgia was their first child.
At age five, the family moved to Morgan, Utah, where Georgia attended school. While attending Morgan High School, she played the clarinet in the marching band. Her greatest thrill during high school was being chosen as a Cheerleader.
After high school, Georgia attended Weber College and worked the summers at Como Springs as a pinsetter and at the snack bar. During the winter of 1957/1958, she met a good-looking guy working on the expansion of the highway through the Devil’s Slide area. By May, she was engaged to John Lee Stenberg. They were married on October 3, 1958, in the Manti Utah Temple.
Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Weber County, and Georgia started working at Hill Air Force Base as a secretary. John started his own construction business a few years later, and Georgia served as his secretary-bookkeeper for over 40 years. John and Georgia were active in the Jaycees and Jaycettes for many years. She served in the Jaycettes in various positions both locally and at the state level.
Georgia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions, including at their home temples. John and Georgia served two missions in the Philippines and one in Florida.
She and John moved to Kimberly, Idaho, in 2018 to be close to their daughter, Kristy. After John passed in 2020, Georgia married David Knight in 2021 in Riverdale, Utah.
She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, John Stenberg. She is survived by her brother, Michael Dennis Heiner; her four children, Toni Garner, Kristy (Mark) Olsen, John (Carmen) Stenberg, and Dan (Jodi) Stenberg; 15 grandchildren and 19+ great-grandchildren and her second husband, David Knight.
