George E Salinas

February 28, 1978 — November 15, 2014

On Nov. 15, 2014, George Encarnacion Salinas Jr., 36, left us unexpectedly and emotionally distressed leaving us with questions and very few answers. He was born Feb. 28, 1978, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to George Sr. and Cynthia Salinas. He grew up in Twin Falls and, at an early age, showed his natural athletic abilities and grew up playing and excelling in sports. His greatest joy in life was the outdoors, but nothing surpassed his love for his children and family. He loved taking his family camping and enjoying the outdoors with them. Being one of the oldest cousins in the large Salinas and Hernandez family, he was loved and admired by his brothers and cousins. To his cousins he was not only a cousin and close friend but also a big brother that they looked up to. Being first born Salinas grandson, he would always tease the other grandkids and tell them he was Grandma Carmela’s favorite! He had a very contagious laugh and Leann would say that George still made her smile, even when he grew out his stupid, ugly bushy beard! Over the years, George made many new friends and became a very popular bartender working at El Sombrero of Jerome and then onto the Press Box and most recently at the Pioneer Club in Twin Falls. We will miss his presence at our family gatherings, especially at Christmas time watching him and Leann, over the last 13 years, come marching through the door with the children like a well-trained Army platoon. The party always got started once they arrived. If Georgie was coming to a gathering we all knew we needed to double or triple the salsa recipe. His love for salsa was displayed on his arm tattoo. George leaves behind his much-loved children, Bryson, Alexandra, Dallas and Gabriel. The children are in the good care of Papa George Sr. and Grandma Cynthia and an entire village of aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives. He is also survived by his parents, George Sr. and Cynthia Salinas; brothers, Fernando A. Salinas and Jacob Salinas; his maternal grandparents, Olivia Hernandez and Fernando Hernandez; his paternal grandparents, Encarnacion and Carmela Salinas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends may come to gather and join the rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Rosenau Funeral Home in Twin Falls. The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Twin Falls, with a luncheon to follow. The Salinas family would like to encourage others if someone you know is in emotional distress or suicide crisis to call 1-800-273-talk or visit http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org. I
