George Harvey Paxton left us to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday September 22nd. George was born April 15, 1928, to John Paxton and Mildred Canfield Paxton. Where he joined his older brother Lawerence and later his younger sister Marjorie. He was baptized at Immanual Lutheran Church and later confirmed where Dad was a lifelong member. Dad attended Park Lane School south of Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High Class of 1946. Following graduation Dad joined the Navy and was stationed in Floridia, San Diego and in Hawaii at the Navel Hospital. After being honorably discharged Dad returned home to farming that he learned from his Dad and his child upbringing and went to work for area farmers. On January 1st, 1949, he married his sweetheart Alma Mae Mulder of Kimberly. On October 16, 1949, their first child Karla was born. In 1950 Dad was called back in to the Navy to serve his country once again and reported to Bremerton Washington. Dad was given the opportunity to be a medical corpsman, a job he too excelled at. He talked of fond memories of helping soldiers. In early 1951 Mom and Karla joined Dad in Bremerton.
In May of 1952 Dad again was honorably discharged and moved back with his family to Kimberly to return to farming. In December 1952, their oldest son John was born, Followed by Brent in 1955 and Jim in 1959.
In 1955 Dad went to work for the Florence Family at Independent Meat Company where he was a route driver and sales associate. In 1978 Dad and Mom had the opportunity to buy into the Article Circle business in Blackfoot with his sister Majorie and brother-in-law Lloyd where he and Mom became partners and operated this business together till their retirement in 1990. Thereafter Dad went to work part time in the spring and summer months for Dale and Karla at Floyd Lilly Company and the other half the year fall and winter was with Mom in Quartzsite, Az for 19 years where they had many friends enjoying lots of back country trail riding with their great friends. During Dad’s lifetime from his child upbringing, in the Navy and his employment careers and well after his retirements Dad never met a stranger and gained new friends and acquaintances over the wonderful course of his lifetime.
Dad leaves behind his wonderful wife Alma of over 75 years of marriage, his children Karla (Dale) Pippitt, Brent, (Patti) Paxton, and Jim (Tami) Paxton. His Grandchildren: Matt Pippitt, Karly (Rich) Pippitt, Adam Paxton, Ben (Haley) Paxton, Erin (Matt) Horvath and Andrew Paxton, his step Grandchildren, Whitney (Todd) Cook and Jessica (Colter) Kamo and his wonderful Great Grandchildren! Dad is proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents, their son John in 2015 and his grandson Andrew Pippitt.
The Paxton family extend a warm thank you to the caring staff at Grace Assisted Living and EnHabit Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers Mom ask if you are so inclined a donation in any amount, you are comfortable to honor George made to either Immanual Lutheran School for scholarships or The Idaho Commission for the Blind Libraries 325 W. State St. Boise, ID. 83702. A Memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday 28th of September 2024 officiated by Dad’s Pastor, Roger Sedlmayr at Immanual Lutheran Church 2055 Filer Ave. E. Twin Falls. We Love You Dad, We Will Miss You and We Will See You in Heaven!
