George Edward Anderson, a Twin Falls resident, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home. He was 91. George was born in Minnesota and came to Twin Falls in 1952. He managed Pacific Fruit and Produce for 40 years until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Florence Anderson and his daughter Patricia Lee. George was a veteran and a marine in WW2. He was one of the first to storm the island of Iwo Jima and spent 6 months in Japan after the bombing of Nagasaki. He received a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for service to his country. He was an enthusiastic hunter and outdoorsman. He and Florence traveled for 10 years in their motorhome enjoying the United States. George is survived by 3 children, Larry (Dixie) Anderson, Elizabeth (Dennis) Summers, Catherine Lipman. George had 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. They will all miss his sharp mind and the stories he told of his life. The family would like to thank the staff at Idaho Home Health Care and Dr. Brian Fortuin for their compassionate care. A private family celebration of his life will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home & Crematory.
