Gary B. Peterson (Pete) age 78 passed away on February 10, 2017 after battling complications of pneumonia.
Gary was born July 10, 1938 at the Magic Valley Memorial Hospital in Twin Falls to Erastus John and Eva Bell Peterson of Filer.
Gary loved sports, horses, dogs, hunting and fishing, snowmobiles, and kept an immaculate yard and garden until limited by ailing health. He spent many hours on horseback as a kid riding and barrel racing on his favorite horse Rounder.
Gary worked at Five Points Gas Station, Motor Merc and Wonder Bread (13 years until 1971). He started farming with his father in Filer and brother, Farrell in Castleford. His son, Brad, and family later joined the family farm in Filer, which he finally sold in 2000. Gary loved working with his children and grandchildren on the farm and was well known for his custom hay work.
Gary graduated from Filer High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He attended one year at BYU in Provo where he had a scholarship to play basketball. After a knee injury he transferred to Ricks College where his sweetheart Barbara Jean Cole was attending. Gary first met Jean in 8th grade at Lincoln School. They started dating sophomore year. She was the cheerleader and he was a football and basketball star. They were married on November 22, 1956 and later sealed in the LDS Ogden Utah Temple.
Gary is survived by his wife Jean and three children: Brad (Cyndi) of Provo Utah; Dana (Ron) Hansen Tetonia, ID; Shelli (Monty) Davis of Idaho Falls, ID; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Gary is survived by his sister Deanna (Dennis) Griffith.
He was preceded in Death by his parents John and Eva Peterson, two brothers Farrell and Jackie Peterson, and granddaughter Kelli Peterson.
A public viewing will be held Friday February 17th from 6 to 8 pm at Rosenau Funeral Home on 2826 Addison Ave E Twin Falls, ID.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 18 at 11:00 am at the LDS Stake Center on 541 Orchard Dr. in Twin falls. A family viewing will be held at 10:00 am prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at rosenaufuneralhome.com
