Fred E. Ripley, 81 of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away on September 21, 2016.
Fred was born February 11, 1935 in Portland, Oregon, the youngest son of Martin Herbert and Marion Thelma Ripley. He spent his early childhood in Tillamook, Oregon, graduating
from Tillamook High School in 1953. Fred joined the Navy Reserve in 1951 and received an Honorable Discharge for his active duty service from 1953 to 1957. In 1959 he moved to Richfield, Idaho to work at the Banquet Creamery. On August 12, 1961 he married Peggy June Roundy. After their first child, a daughter, Shirlene was born in 1962 they moved to Klamath Falls Oregon where son Daniel was born in 1965. They remained there until Fred retired in 2000 when they relocated to Buhl, Idaho.
During his years in Klamath Falls he worked as the cheesemaker for Crater Lake Dairy, plant manager for Champion Metal Co. and Operation Manager for Wheeling Corrugating.
Fred was involved in officiating high school and college football, basketball and baseball
for 30 years and was the Southern Oregon Basketball Commissioner for 10 years. He was
active in the Babe Ruth Baseball program and one of the co-chairman for the 1968
Babe Ruth World Series. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Fred participated in skeet shooting and was enshrined in the Oregon, Zone 7 and National
Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame. He served on the National Skeet Executive committee for
eight years and was a founding member of the National Sporting Clays Association, holding membership number 7.
After retirement in 2000 he became a volunteer for the AARP Tax-Aide program and
served as Idaho State Coordinator for five years. He was appointed Northwest Regional Coordinator in 2010. At the time of his death he had volunteered for 15 years in the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Martin.
Fred is survived by his spouse of ¬¬¬55 years, Peggy, daughter Shirlene Ripley-Pare (Andre) of
Klamath Falls, Oregon, son Daniel (Jeff) of San Francisco, California, Grandsons Zach and Seth Pare of Klamath Falls, Oregon and many relatives and friends. No services will be held per his request. Donations can be made in Fred's name to
