Eugene H. Sturgill

Eugene (Gene) H. Sturgill passed away at his home on April 14, 2025, from natural causes. Gene was born in Kimberly, Idaho, on August 2, 1928, the only son of Aden Theodore and Cora Andor Sturgill. Gene grew up on his parents’ farm and attended school in Kimberly where he graduated from Kimberly High School in 1946. After attending Brigham Young University for two years, Gene was called to the Hawaiian Islands as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served from November 1948 to February 1951. In August 1951, Gene met his wife of 62 years, Beverly Rae Crowley. Gene and Bev were married December 19, 1951, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Gene graduated from Brigham Young University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Economics. Gene and Bev settled in Twin Falls and reared their family of five sons and two daughters. Gene was active and held many callings in his church as well as being active in the community through Rotary Club, the Twin Falls’ Community Children’s Theater and the Twin Falls Public Library. Gene retired in 2000 from Edward Jones after almost 40 years in the investment business helping generations of clients save and plan for retirement. Gene helped to found and fund Type of Wood Charities through which he supported humanitarian work in the Philippines, Africa and war torn Ukraine. Also with Type of Wood Gene traveled to the Philippines multiple times as a humanitarian volunteer to help with construction projects, farming operations and dental missions. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lois, two sons, Michael and Corey and his dear wife Beverly. He is survived by his son Stephen Jerry (Kris), his daughters Kelly Price (Kevin) and Julie Sturgill, and his two youngest sons David and Robert (Michelle). Gene and Bev also have 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
