Dwight Leon Mills was born April 10, 1956 to Lloyd Andrew Mills and Barbara Skelton Mills in Twin Falls, Idaho. He enjoyed living in the Magic Valley and serving the community he grew up in. Leon left this earth and was welcomed into eternity with Jesus November 21, 2023 surrounded in prayer by his wife, daughters, and sons in law as "Give Me Jesus" played.
His life was a model of generosity, loyalty, and love.
One could easily list the many accomplishments, volunteer hours, and accolades but he doesn't want those to define the life he led.
Leon loved his family with all his heart! They were his greatest accomplishments. Leon put his family above himself and brought them together as often as he could. It didn’t have to be a holiday to gather, it could be a Monday errand run or swinging by to go for a ride. He would visit just to say hi or drop something by that made him think of you.
He enjoyed giving and considered it a hobby to find the things you mentioned you'd been looking for; whether a knife for a nephew, a doll for his grandaughter, or some groceries he got on sale; he enjoyed the hunt for the deal he knew he could find and share.
Leon was a master storyteller and drew you in with detail. Most enjoyed hearing stories about his childhood in the Magic Valley, miles of hunting hilltops, and jokes he'd play on his family. Leon knew how to make you laugh. He loved a good joke.
We will miss his chats about the deeper matters of life too. He knew God well and loved to talk about Jesus since deciding to follow Him in 1984. He'd often recite song lyrics when in a good mood and paticularly liked Matthew West: " 'Cause I'm just a nobody trying to tell everybody, All about Somebody who saved my soul, I'm just living for the world to see nobody but Jesus."
Most who knew Leon can think of an instance where he showed kindness, often beyond generous with time, money, talents, or patience. We wish to thank him one last time, but that wasn't Leon to wait around for a thank you. He wasn't working for people- he was working for the Lord; and if you experienced his generosity, you can thank the Lord instead. That's how he wanted it.
The life he lived-well is remembered by his wife, Sheri (Parr) Mills, three daughters: Stephanie (Mike) Pierre, Rebecca (Casey) Sojka, and Pamela (Shane) Mitrov, grandkids: Makyah, Liam, Lionel, Oliver, and Molly, siblings: Sid (Suzette), Mark, and Terry (Liz), many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
You are invited to a service in honor of Leon's life at Lighthouse Church, 960 Eastland Drive in Twin Falls @ 1pm on Friday, December 1, 2023.
