Donald Glavin

June 4, 1926 — December 26, 2016

Don Glavin peacefully joined our lord in heaven on Dec. 27, 2016 at the age of 90. Don was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on March 23, 1926 to Father (Bryan Glavin) and Mother (Lorene Nancolas). Don's grandfather, Richard Glavin homesteaded a parcel of land on the Salmon Tract. There he grew up working on the farm with his father until he graduated from high school. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Navy as a signalman and remains a WWII veteran to this day. Upon his return from overseas, he resumed his work on the farm. Don succeeded his father's ownership of the homestead in 1965. In 1971 he married the love of his life, Lola. Don, Lola, and his son Barney worked side-by-side managing the land. Don was always looking for new and innovative crops that would grow on the Salmon Tract, some of which were Yellow Spanish Onions, Clover Seed, and Alfalfa Seed. As some of you may know Don had a fanatical obsession with ridding his land of every last weed. In 1980 Don installed a dry edible bean processing plant that he operated with son Barney until 2005. Don and Lola sold the farm in 1995, but continued to live in the original homestead until 2014 when they then moved into Twin Falls. During his free time, Don enjoyed shooting trap with his father and son. They were all accomplished marksmen and won many competitions together. Don enjoyed many other outdoor activities including skiing, fly fishing, hunting, and especially getting beat in golf by his lovely wife, Lola. Don is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Don is survived by his wife Lola Glavin, children; Jill (Ken) Stutzman, Barney (Anneta) Glavin, Kim (Bruce) Baisch, Doug (Bobbi) DeWitt, Lamont DeWitt, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his favorite cousin Billie. Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us everyday… unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Services will held on Saturday, December 31st at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 1:00PM with a viewing 1 hour prior to the services. The family suggests memorials be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. Friends and family are encouraged to share their memories at www.rosenaufuneralhome.com
