Don Frank Achenbach
Don Frank Achenbach, 91, formerly of Buhl, passed away at his home in Twin Falls on Saturday, April 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born January 3, 1930, to Frank and Ruby (Baxter) Achenbach at their home near Buhl, Idaho. His father was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was 14 months old. His mother, brother and he moved in with his grandfather Joe Baxter. Later his mother married Bill Littleton in 1935. He attended Deep Creek School where he met Doris Olander. They were married April 6, 1947 in Buhl, Idaho. They lived in the Buhl area until 2008, when they moved to Twin Falls. They farmed and ran a trucking and construction business in Buhl for many years. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Buhl which he was instrumental in establishing. He was a lifetime member of the Buhl West End Mens Association.
In 1988, he and Doris began making annual trips to Quartzsite, Arizona, to enjoy the warm winter months, seeing sites in the southwest and riding four-wheelers. A big part of their lives was camping and four-wheeling on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
Don is survived by son, Ray (Ethel) Achenbach of Kearns, Utah; daughter, Valerie (Kelly) Stigile of Hazelton; aunt, Geneva Baxter McCoy-Jardine of East Wenatchee, Washington; sister, Adene (Jim) Kimball of Buhl; granddaughter, Shelli (Bill) Stokesberry of Twin Falls; grandsons, Joe (Crystal), Brian (Channel), and Donnie (Windy) Achenbach of Utah, and Justin Clark of Castleford; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris; parents; three daughters Jolyn and Donna Achenbach and Kay Eastburn; granddaughter Maurene Kendrick; and brother, Ed Achenbach.
The family would like to thank Horizon Hospice and Sue Wilcox for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
A viewing will be held Thursday April 8, 2021, at Rosenau Funeral Home, Twin Falls, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Buhl Calvary Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery in Buhl.
